Honda Civic Type R
Like any industry, the global car market is an extremely competitive area in which dozens of leading car manufacturers, from Honda and Toyota to Ford, Volkswagen and Seat, are all trying to get an edge over their rivals in terms of car design and production.
Each car manufacturer directly competes against the others in a wide range of different markets, from the luxury saloon market to the off-road vehicle market, and there are dozens of cars for customers to choose from within each vehicle size market that cover a wide range of different budgets.
The hot hatch market is no different and Honda’s sporty hatchback, the Civic Type R, faces plenty of competition in its quest to become the most purchased hot hatch that has the most satisfied drivers. The Type R has been in production for over a decade since it was first sold to the world in 1997, and in that period of time the car has sold fairly well and has attracted a high number of customers, especially those drivers who are slightly younger.
The Type R is the tuned up version of the Civic, which offers drivers a sportier ride and better performance when compared to the original Civic. The Type R is in competition with a number of other hot hatches in what is a pretty crowded market, and two cars that it is directly competing with are the Volkswagen Golf GTI and the Ford Focus Sport, both of which have performed pretty well to date.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI in particular has something of a stronghold over the market in which it has been a leader for a number of years, and had already built up a solid reputation and level of ownership before the Type R was first put into production. The Golf is well-renowned as a well-built small family car and the tuned up GTI certainly packs a punch. The Golf GTI is slightly more expensive than the Civic Type R, but the German-built car continues to be a top seller.
The Ford Focus Sport is very similar to the Honda Civic Type R in a number of aspects, with both cars trying to achieve a certain personality for their car that has something of an attitude. The Type R’s striking aesthetics are matched by the Focus Sport that comes in a choice of bright blue or bright orange, and has a tuned up engine as well. Both the Civic and the Focus are cars that have fared well in their original models and have also both made a considerable impact in the hot hatch market as sportier versions of two popular cars.
The Honda Civic Type R compares favourably to its rivals in terms of being a car that is exciting to drive, well-made and good value for money. The Civic Type R is at the cutting-edge of design and performance and is a great example of car manufacturing in the 21st century.
The Type R also still manages to be unique and offer something different to its competitors, while its forward thinking design will help it sell well and perform admirably well into the future.
